Alexandra Petersamer was born in Landau/Isar in Germany and studied voice from 1988-1995 at the Musikhochschule in Munich, completing her studies with a Master Diploma as a concert and opera singer. During this time, she recieved scholarships from the German Stage Association, the Richard Wagner Foundation in Bayreuth and a Young Artists Award from the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture. She was awarded the first prize in opera at the VDMK National Vocal Competition in Berlin in 1992. In 1994, she won first prize at the International Pfitzner Competition in Munich and, in 1997, two special prizes from Riga and Barcelona at the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Vocal Competition in Vienna. Alexandra Petersamer began her career at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, being a member of the ensemble from 1994-2000. The next four years she was engaged at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich. Since 2005 Alexandra Petersamer regularly appears in mayor roles such as Carmen, Charlotte, Eboli, Santuzza, Brangäne and Ortrud. From 2006 on she performs as Rossweisse in the new Ring Production at the Bayreuth Festival. In 2007 Alexandra Petersamer had a huge success with her debut as Ortrud in Tokyo and in 2008 she sang this role at the Leipzig Opera. In 2008 she had her debut at the Semperoper Dresden singing the part of Oberpriesterin in Penthesilea. Alexandra Petersamers active concert career has included performances in Berlin, Dresden, Paris, Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, Riga, Brussels, Palermo, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas, as well as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Neuschwanstein Festival Concerts, the Salzburg Festival the Opera Festival in Savonlinna and the Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago. Alexandra Petersamer sung under the baton of Valery Gergiev, Sir Colin Davis, Michael Gielen, Günter Herbig, Bertrand de Billy, Stefan Anton Reck, Stefan Soltesz, Marcello Viotti, Alan Gilbert and Christian Thielemann. Future plans in 2009 include amoung others Mahler Symphonies with Alan Gilbert in Hamburg and Bremen, Kindertotenlieder in Kassel and Saarbrücken and Beethoven Symphonies in Berlin. In 2009/10 she debuts as Venus in Tannhäuser at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. |
